Cllr Pieter van Heerden is the General Manager of the Sungardens Hospice and he will address us on "The Sungardens Hospice Turnaround - A Success Story".
His talk will include a general background and various aspects of services offered by the hospice, his use of advertising and marketing to ensure a successful turnaround.

Annemarie Beukes

Translators – Building Bridges

Prof Annemarie Beukes is the previous head of the Institute of South African Translators, and retired Director of the Academy of Arts and Science. Her talk will discuss the pivotal role played by translators in facilitating communication in multilingual and multicultural societies.

Brenda Spencer

Understanding Arthritis

Brenda Spencer works in the Arthritis Foundation. Together with her colleague, Nadine, Brenda’s discussion about this condition will include helpful information such as diet.
There will also be a demonstration of some practical exercises.
Handouts will be available.

Tim Lane

The History of Smuts Farm, Doornkloof – Its Contents and Inhabitants

In his talk, Tim Lane will be focusing on the major role played by Smuts’ wife, Isie, during Smuts’ frequent, long periods away overseas.
Tim is a retired diplomat, and previous Chairman of the Smuts Foundation. His approach is from an historical perspective, past and present.

Laetitia Orlandi

Beethoven: Rage, Grace and Passion

Dr Laetitia Orlandi, an award-winning pianist, returns to entertain us with a recital based on Beethoven’s moods. It will reveal Beethoven in a way that most audiences don’t get to experience him – in one programme.
This promises to be a wonderful way to end our year.
